DIG it!

I have something for you to try, if you’d like.

Sit comfortably. Close your eyes. Take a few slow, deep breaths.

Let your human concerns slide away. This isn’t always easy, but well worth the effort.

Know that you are safe within your own energetic frequency.

Now open to your Divine Inner Guidance. Allow it to take you wherever it will. Don’t rush it. Let it unfold naturally.

Once your experience feels complete, slowly bring yourself back to your physical body.

where ideas go to die

This post isn’t nearly as negative as its title implies. In fact, it has a positive message. But the title fits. You’ll see why…

boardwalk swamp

While in a meditative state, I stood with my Higher Self on a wooden platform at the edge of a swamp. An old man with sparkling eyes stood near us. My Self and I each held a tiny memory chip in our hand. One chip was “the idea that being constantly busy proves your worth.” The other: “the idea that worrying about someone proves you love them.”

The old man told us to toss both “idea chips” into the swampy water. So we did.

They hit the water and broke up into bubbles, each bubble bursting with a tiny spark of light.

I asked the old man where we were. He said, “This is where ideas go to die. It’s not as dramatic as it sounds. It’s where we release them when they’ve outlived their usefulness.”

I invite you to take a moment to examine your ideas, your beliefs. Are there any you feel you’ve outgrown? Are you ready to release them?

Authenticity

“Be your authentic self.”

You hear that a lot around metaphysical, new age-y circles. It sounds catchy and wise, but what does it really mean?

To me, it simply means to drop what others want you to be and live from your heart. Follow what you truly want to do (and be) without filtering yourself through societal and familial expectations.

heart lead

If you’re around someone who isn’t being true to who they really are – or is so caught up in trying to “fit in” that they have no idea who they really are – they give off a distinctly disquieting energy. Something just feels off with them. It’s not pleasant to be around. And it’s certainly not a healthy way to live. I’ve spent much of this life trying to please others, often sacrificing what/who I was inside in order to do so. I’m done with that. It no longer fits.

If you’re around people who lack authenticity, it’s really okay to withdraw from them. You don’t have to subject yourself to the negative energy that they generate. And if you’re confused about your own authentic self (no judgment here; I’ve been there), try this:

Find a quiet place and close your eyes or soften your gaze. Take a moment to let your thoughts settle down. Focus on your breath as it moves in and out. Feel your own energy moving through your body. Now imagine your awareness moving from your head to your heart. Once you are in your heart space, ask yourself, “What do I want? What brings me joy? What am I passionate about?” Let your heart provide the answers. Let this guide you toward your own authenticity.
